Tell a friend, The Rinse hath returned with a hot dose of new drum & bass for the week. This week’s episode takes on a sinister tone, with tracks from Noisia, Sikka N Sweet, and S.P.Y., but also delivers a party vibe with tracks from Cyantific and DC Breaks. Time to get grimy!

Dr Kucho! & Gregor Salto feat. Anne Brun – Can’t Stop Playing (Makes Me High) (Cyantific Remix) [Ministry Of Sound]

Cyantific, the Viper Recordings artist who’s earned his D&B stripes on a global scale, takes Oliver Heldens’ vocal edit of Dr Kucho! and Gregor Salto’s Can’t Stop Playing and turns it into a three-alarm fire. Cyantific reworks the original’s melody into a scintillating motif, while deploying a sweat-inducing break on top of it. Of particular interest is his masterful treatment of the vocals, pitching them up to create a sense of urgency with the track. Cyantific’s edit comes as part of the Can’t Stop Playing remix EP via Ministry Of Sound.

Eelke Kleijn – Mistakes (DC Breaks Remix) [RAM/Spinnin]

Eelke Kleijn released a swooning house number called Mistakes I’ve Made last year on Spinnin’, and RAM Records veterans DC Breaks have injected the tune with napalm. Strictly dancefloor, DC Breaks’ remix of Mistakes I’ve Made feels like a fight or flight moment, built around an adrenaline-filled bassline, growling and snarling from the track’s onset. Juxtaposed against the rude bassline is an uplifting vocal, providing just enough accessibility for the faint of heart. This remix comes by way of RAM and Spinnin’ Records.

PURCHASE

Noisia – Banshee (Original Mix) [Vision]

The Dutch trio known as Noisia are at the top of their game right now. Having recently released a huge anniversary album commemorating 10-years of quality music for their label Vision Recordings, the D&B troupe are back at it again with another instant classic in the form of a four-track EP called Incessant. Out on their imprint Vision, the EP features collaborator Mefjus and dives into the murkier shades of D&B. The particular track featured here is called Banshee–a more cinematic work from the trio, with sparkling synths, ambient pads, and a pulsing bassline.

PURCHASE

Sweet N Sikka – You Ain’t (Original Mix) [Inna Rhythm]

Fresh from burgeoning Yorkshire imprint Inna Rhythm, the Collusions 2 EP is essential listening for any D&B connoisseur. This particular selection from the EP is a collab by super-talented UK producer Sikka and industry stalwart Sweet called You Ain’t. The tune features a resonant bassline paired with a rolling break–the perfect prescription for remedying a stagnant dancefloor. An occasional vocal sample raises the tune’s rudeness quotient, but doesn’t interfere with its irresistible groove.

PURCHASE

Tough Love – So Freakin Tight (S.P.Y. Remix) [Get Twisted]

Brazilian producer S.P.Y. is coming off of a massive EP Brstl Hardcore, which was released by Skrillex’ NEST media platform back in February. However, his latest work is this upfront remix of Tough Love’s So Freakin Tight–a house track sampling Jodeci’s 1995 smash, Freek’n You. The Hospital Records producer gives Tough Love’s original a 174 BPM tune-up, deploying reverberant supersaw synths and skittering percussion on top of a droning bassline. S.P.Y.’s remix of So Freakin Tight comes by way of Get Twisted Records.
