With their magnetic remix of Dr Meaker’s Don’t Think It’s Love still in heavy rotation, RAM Records’ duo Mind Vortex are gearing up to drop a brand new EP, and LessThan3 has the exclusive, full-length version of the A-side cut Gravity ahead of the EP’s Sept. 16 release date (below). Forthcoming on RAM Records, Gravity/Catapult marks the duo’s first original work since their explosive EP, Alive/Arc, with Gravity already receiving the stamp of approval from BBC Radio 1xtra DJ, Friction.
While both tunes on the new EP are imbued with neck-snapping funk, Gravity is a sonorous hand-grenade specifically designed to toss on the dancefloor during peak-time hours. Starting with delicate bleeps and an unassuming pad steeped in reverb, Gravity quickly unleashes a frantic, pitch-shifting melody on top of a buffeting bassline and a torrent of sizzling breaks. Not long after the tune’s first massive drop, accents of weighty, filter-choked formant growls materialize, raising Gravity’s volatility quotient dramatically. Rude timbres, a pummeling low-end, and mountains of groove make Gravity one of Mind Vortex’s most destructive tunes to date. Pre-order Gravity/Catapult right here and make sure to catch Mind Vortex and the rest of the RAM Records camp including Andy C, Wilkinson, Loadstar, and many others at the O2 Brixton Academy (UK) on Friday, Nov. 1 for one unforgettable night of drum & bass (flyer below).
